Rigger boots are a popular footwear choice for many workers due to their relaxed fit and greater coverage – as well as providing basic toe and underfoot protection, rigger safety boots can also help to keep feet warm and dry.

Rigger boots get their name from originally being used by offshore oil rig workers, but they’re now a popular choice for all kinds of everyday jobs. They’re easy to slip on or off, and they offer greater waterproof coverage with a looser and more comfortable fit.

However, many rigger boots don’t provide additional ankle support. This means they can’t offer any protection against rolling an ankle, which is a common cause of sprains or breaks when working on uneven ground. For this reason, not all construction sites allow the use of rigger boots – it’s always worth checking with your employer or site manager first.

Rigger Safety Boots

When choosing rigger safety boots, look for the levels of toe or underfoot protection it offers. Most site rigger boots will offer steel or composite toe caps and midsoles, alongside a robust and durable leather construction that helps to keep the wind and rain out.

Steel toe cap rigger boots will offer vital protection against impact and compression, helping to reduce the risk of injury on site. Inside, features like fur linings and removable footbeds provide additional warmth and comfort – rigger work boots are designed to get you through busy days in bad conditions.
