Ear defenders play a vital role in protecting your hearing while working in noisy environments. Exposure to loud sounds can cause issues such as tinnitus or noise-induced hearing loss – and that’s why choosing reliable ear defenders is so important.
If your ears are exposed to loud noises above 85dB(A) for more than two hours, you’re at a far greater risk of suffering hearing impairment or hearing loss. At work, this could include engines, machinery, vehicles and much more – and putting on industrial ear defenders is a simple way to limit the noise that reaches your ears.
Work ear defenders are often seen as a more convenient alternative to plugs. While ear plugs are inserted into the ear canal, ear defenders are worn over the ears – they’re quicker and easier to put on when you’re in a hurry, and offer a far more consistent protection.
At Toolstation, we stock a variety of safety ear defenders from trusted trade brands including Maverick, Milwaukee and Moldex. You should always check the noise reduction rating (NRR) or signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) rating of any PPE ear defenders to make sure they’re suitable for your work requirements.
