Smart Thermostats

Smart thermostats give you complete control over your home's heating, helping to improve comfort while reducing energy usage and heating costs. Designed for use with many central heating systems, they allow you to not only adjust the temperature, but also set schedules, and manage heating remotely using a smartphone or smart home device.

Suited for both home and commercial installations, smart heating controls can help create more efficient heating routines and even support multi-zone systems when paired with smart radiator valves. Compatible with all types of boilers and heating setups, smart thermostats offer a convenient and modern way to manage indoor temperatures with greater flexibility and control. Choose from trusted brands like Hive, Wiser, and Tado.

Hive Thermostats

When used with a compatible combi boiler, a Hive smart thermostat will give you full remote control of your heating via a Hive app on your mobile phone. You can operate it with simple voice commands, and enjoy a range of features that help you manage it around work or holidays. Unsure which model is right for your home? What is a smart thermostat?

A smart thermostat lets you control your heating from a phone or personal device. It connects via your Wi‑Fi allowing you to change the temperature in your home and schedule heating from anywhere.

How do smart thermostats save energy?

They only heat your home when needed. Features like schedules, geofencing (detecting when you’re out), and learning your routine can cut waste and lower bills.

Can I install a smart thermostat myself?

Some models are DIY‑friendly, especially wireless ones that replace a simple wall thermostat. Others need wiring into your boiler or heating controls and are best fitted by a professional. Check the thermostat’s information before attempting to install it.

Do smart thermostats work with all boilers?

Most work with combi, system, and heat‑only boilers. Always check compatibility, especially for older models or if you want advanced features like OpenTherm modulation.

What’s the difference between a smart thermostat and a smart TRV?

Smart thermostat: controls your whole heating system.
Smart TRVs (thermostatic radiator valves): control heat for individual radiators, giving you zoned heating.

Do smart thermostats need Wi‑Fi?

Yes, for remote control and updates. If the internet goes down, most can still work like a standard thermostat using the manual controls.

How much can I save with a smart thermostat?

Savings can vary, but many households cut heating bills by 10–20% by using schedules, lowering the set temperature across the home, and cutting down on not heating empty rooms.
