FAQs

Where can you use armoured cables?

Armoured cables are suitable for indoor and outdoor installations, including underground power supplies, outbuildings, garages, workshops and industrial applications. Their heavy duty construction means they’re typically used in high-risk areas where other types of cables could be subject to damage.

What are the different types of cable armour?

The most common types are steel wire armoured (SWA) cable and steel tape armoured (STA) cable. Both types are often used for low-voltage power distribution due to their strength and flexibility.

Why would I use steel wire armoured cable?

Steel wire armoured (SWA) cable offers excellent protection against physical damage, making it ideal for buried, outdoor or exposed installations. It provides a tough, reliable solution for safely supplying power in demanding conditions.

What is the difference between armoured cable and normal cable?

The main difference between armoured cable and normal cable is the level of protection it provides. Armoured cable has a steel protective layer that resists impact and mechanical damage, making it suitable for outdoor, underground and exposed installations. Standard electrical cable is designed for internal use where this additional protection isn't required.
